Book about competitive learning based on ICTs:
CALL FOR CHAPTERS

Introduction
The main objective of the EduJudge project, co-funded by the European Commission, is to integrate UVA On-line Judge (online-judge.uva.es), a programming trainer, into an effective educational environment, in order to satisfy the users demand of a greater pedagogic character and, in this way, facilitate the use of On-line Judge as one more activity for official courses in the mathematical and programming field (secondary education and higher education).
With the aim to promote the use of competitive learning strategies in class, one of the tasks of the EduJudge project is to publish this book about competitive learning based on ICTs, which will include the experience gained during the project and present the state of the art in competitive e-learning tools and experiences.
This in an invitation to send original submissions related to the topics covered by the book. All submissions will undergo a thorough reviewing and refereeing process in order to decide their acceptance.
Purpose
This book should contain an interdisciplinary approach to the competitive learning based on ICTs, since the aim is to provide contributions of specialists with different backgrounds: Engineering, Pedagogy, etc. Contents should be rigorous but when writing our contributions we should have in mind that the reading should be profitable for a researcher with a different background from the background of the author, and profitable for an educator.
The language of the book will be English and then all chapters must be
submitted in English.
Target groups
The book is mainly directed to university and second education teachers,
the research community but also to educators in other levels and types
of education.
Topics
The suggested topics for paper submissions include, but are not limited to:
- Best practices in competitive e-learning.
- ICT tools used for competitive learning.
- Case studies and projects of competitive e-learning.
- Pedagogical aspects in competitive e-learning.
Important dates
- Abstract submission deadline: 18 December 2008.
- Acceptance notification, comments and instructions to submit the complete chapter: 30 January 2009.
- Chapters submission deadline: 31 August 2009
- Acceptance and comments: September 2009
- Final version deadline: October 2009
- Publication: Before May 2010
